Four Reasons to Switch to LED

The benefits of LED lighting are so well known that the original scientists received a Nobel Prize in Physics in 2014 for having invented a new energy-efficient and environment-friendly light source.

Here’s what makes LED lights so special.

LED Lights Are Brighter

LED emit high efficacy (measure of how well a light source produces visible light) and durability. Additionally, LEDs offer greater optical control (LEDs are a more controllable source), dimming, instant on and off, and reduced lumen depreciation (resulting in longer life).

LED Lights Last Longer

Our lighting products are designed to last as long as 50,000 hours-50 times the life of a typical incandescent bulb and 5 times the lifetime of an average compact fluorescent lamp (CFL). In fact, if you ran one typical lamp for 6 hours per day it would last for nearly 23 years.

LED Lights Rarely Require Replacement

An LED does not burn out like a standard lamp. Instead the diodes gradually produce lower output levels over a very long period of time. If one LED in a fixture fails, it does not produce a complete fixture failure.

We all have at least one bulb that is hard to reach that needs a ladder or pole to replace. For a homeowner, it means 50 fewer chances to fall off a ladder. For a business owner, it means significantly lower maintenance and labor costs.

Our products are designed to meet rigorous certification requirements for lifetime color maintenance and as a percentage of original lumen output. For general illumination applications, vision research suggests that 70 percent of the original lumen output is the level where end users begin to notice a drop in light levels.

LED Lights Save Money

LED lights use a considerable less amount of energy and last longer, monthly electric bills plummet upon conversion. The U.S. Department of Energy estimates that by 2027, widespread use of LEDs could amount in a total savings of more than $30 billion at today’s electricity prices.

This is why many high-profile companies, cities and organizations are making the switch. The City of Los Angeles is saving $5.3 million annually by replacing 114,000 high-pressure sodium street lights with LED lighting, the nation’s largest project of this sort, according to Forbes.com.

Locally, after we retrofitted Port City Logistics warehouse in Savannah with LED lights, they receive an annual energy savings of $26,115. Habersham’s exterior and common space LED lighting has saved them $4,416 annually. Hilton Head Glass & Veronica’s Art Glass Studio stands to save $1,718 a year in energy costs.
